Helper Carpenter 1

About the Role

Industrial Carpenter Helper 1 will assist in the construction, dismantling, and repair of wooden and metal objects and/or concrete forms.

Responsibilities

• Identify all tools required for tasks.
• Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
• Assist in the measurement, marking, and cutting of wooden/metallic materials to required specifications.
• Assist in the construction, reinforcement, and dismantling of pre-constructed concrete forms.
• Assist in building and constructing wooden forms.
• Assist on miscellaneous construction projects such as building decks and steps, bulletin boards, and additional wooden structures.
• Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping of work areas.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience working in Industrial Construction as a Carpenter Helper.
• Knowledge of materials, tools, and processes involved with basic building techniques and form construction.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic functions.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to work a full work schedule and any additional overtime as needed.
• Willingness to work safely and follow all safety rules and regulations.
• Adherence to all company and site rules and regulations.
• Possession of required tools (list to be provided).

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee.
• Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
• Formal/Technical education.
• Experience working with carpentry, concrete, and rebar.

Physical Requirements

• Adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
• Communicate by talking and hearing.
• Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
• Pick up, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding using appropriate fall protection.
• Work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold, and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and leather steel-toed work boots.
