About the Role
Industrial Carpenter Helper 1 will assist in the construction, dismantling, and repair of wooden and metal objects and/or concrete forms.
Responsibilities
- Identify all tools required for tasks.
- Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
- Assist in the measurement, marking, and cutting of wooden/metallic materials to required specifications.
- Assist in the construction, reinforcement, and dismantling of pre-constructed concrete forms.
- Assist in building and constructing wooden forms.
- Assist on miscellaneous construction projects such as building decks and steps, bulletin boards, and additional wooden structures.
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping of work areas.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience working in Industrial Construction as a Carpenter Helper.
- Knowledge of materials, tools, and processes involved with basic building techniques and form construction.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic functions.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to work a full work schedule and any additional overtime as needed.
- Willingness to work safely and follow all safety rules and regulations.
- Adherence to all company and site rules and regulations.
- Possession of required tools (list to be provided).
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee.
- Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
- Formal/Technical education.
- Experience working with carpentry, concrete, and rebar.
Physical Requirements
- Adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
- Communicate by talking and hearing.
- Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
- Pick up, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding using appropriate fall protection.
- Work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold, and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and leather steel-toed work boots.
