Heavy Rentals Maintenance Manager

About the role
The Heavy Rental Maintenance Manager leads the growth and development of Rental Fleet On and Off Yard repair and maintenance capabilities. This role maximizes Heavy Rental fleet rental revenue by ensuring equipment is ready for duty, delivering a positive customer rental repair experience, and minimizing maintenance and repair expenses. The Manager hires, trains, and leads Rental Fleet Supervisors who oversee on-yard maintenance teams and designs processes for an exceptional off-yard customer repair experience through collaboration, organizational structure, and customer interaction.

Responsibilities
- Model, promote, reinforce, and reward the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with the company’s Vision, Values, and Mission
- Hire, develop, evaluate, and promote effective and consistent productivity and teamwork to deliver Legendary Customer Service (LCS)
- Develop leaders and their subordinates’ technical and leadership skills
- Ensure rental fleet maintenance and repair activities meet company objectives for maintenance and repair costs and customer experience
- Collaborate with internal and external resources to create and deliver a responsive and effective Off Yard Maintenance and Repair customer experience
- Regularly visit branches to coach teams and achieve Heavy Rental Fleet goals
- Ensure team commitment to safety policies, procedures, and standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or related field preferred
- Eight or more years of job-related experience
- Three or more years of experience managing staff
- Valid driver’s license required
- 20% travel with overnight stays
Skills
- Knowledge of business and management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
- Interpersonal skills to engage with customers, vendors, staff, and executives to exchange information, influence, and persuade
- Judgment and decision-making skills to evaluate costs and benefits of potential actions and determine appropriate courses of action
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to listen, understand, and communicate information and ideas effectively
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position manages Rental Fleet Maintenance Supervisors and their teams. Responsibilities include:
- Interviewing, hiring, and training employees
- Developing repair processes, coaching, and professional development
- Appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees
- Addressing complaints and resolving problems
Physical Requirements
- Extended periods in an upright position; frequent walking, climbing, and reaching
- Frequent communication with others; must exchange accurate information
- Occasional movement of materials or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Constant movement and use of limbs; requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
- Ascends/descends ladders and equipment using both hands and feet
- Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions; visually inspects work
Work Environment
- Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts; may be exposed to weather extremes (heat, cold, humidity, inclement weather) when working outdoors
- Exposure to loud noise levels, small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
- Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment (PPE) at times
- Work in cramped spaces and/or high places
- Frequent fast-paced work with unscheduled interruptions
