About the role
Our Equipment Technician is primarily responsible for troubleshooting, servicing and repairing heavy machinery in the shop. This includes large and small earthmoving equipment.
Hourly Base Rate: $24.62 - $58.30 / hour
Responsibilities
- Perform all levels of repair and preventative maintenance on heavy machinery, diagnose and troubleshoot problems, make recommendations for repairs and perform critical repairs and adjustments
- Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, and test and adjust assemblies with minimal supervision
- Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments
- Develop and maintain long-lasting working relationships with customers
- Travel is required for training and/or to assist at other locations
Physical & Working Requirements
- Safely and repeatedly lifting components weighing up to 115 pounds without assistance
- Safely lifting, carrying, and lowering components weighing up to 65 pounds without assistance
- Frequent pushing, pulling, and carrying of heavy materials
- Climbing on and off equipment and working at varying heights
- Standing, bending, and working in physically demanding positions for extended periods
- Safely operating tools and equipment
Requirements
- Basic mechanical knowledge including electrical and hydraulics
- General knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments
- Welding background (MIG and Stick experience)
- Must be able to read and comprehend specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins and other related publications
Qualifications
- Experience working within the diesel mechanics industry (specifically with CAT earthmoving equipment)
- Certified Welder (3G/4G) with equipment repair welding experience
- Stable work history
- Knowledge of use of various heavy equipment and the ability to read and comprehend specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins and other related publications
