Mechanic/Heavy Equipment Technician

About the role

Covia is seeking a dynamic Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join the Operations team at its Thompson, OH location. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining and repairing various types of heavy machinery used in industrial settings.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty equipment & vehicles
• Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment
• Adjusting equipment and replacing faulty parts
• Repairing damaged equipment parts
• Performing major repair work as needed
• Testing and verifying correct operation of all repairs and adjustments
• Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management
• Completing related paperwork and accessing databases required to complete job (work order, parts order, JSA, etc.) accurately and timely
• Performing other duties as assigned

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Proven work experience as a Diesel or Heavy Equipment Mechanic
• Preferred certification as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or AA in Applied Diesel Technology
• Knowledge of database software, internet software, and manufacturer software
• Proficient use of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, laptops, diagnostic software, and cranes and rigging equipment
• Product knowledge of gas, diesel, electrical, electronic, and mechanical components

Pay

Hourly Rate: $35+/hr based on experience
