Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Technician

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical service to construction equipment.
  • Read job orders, observe, and listen to machines in operation to determine malfunctions and plan work procedures.
  • Follow checklists to ensure critical parts are examined.
  • Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and adjust as needed.
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure it runs smoothly.
  • Tag all warranty parts and return them to the warranty clerk.
  • Attend training classes and stay updated on factory technical bulletins.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers to enhance overall customer satisfaction.
  • Properly complete service and/or repairs as assigned by supervisors.
  • Complete all work according to applicable safety requirements and published procedures.
  • Show pride in workmanship by producing quality work.
  • Maintain assigned workspace in an organized and clean manner.
  • Show utmost courtesy to all customers and dealership personnel.
  • Achieve production objectives set by management.
  • Adhere to manufacturer's policies and procedures related to labor operations, time, and repair order documentation when performing warranty repairs and torque specifications.
  • Perform other duties as outlined by the Service Supervisor and/or management.

Qualifications

  • 1-year fleet or dealership experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of heavy equipment or diesel industry experience.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Be a team player with a strong sense of commitment to the customer and service team.
  • Be self-motivated and conduct oneself in a professional manner.
  • Have experience with high-pressure common rail fuel systems, exhaust after-treatment, electrical troubleshooting, and hydraulic systems.
  • Must have your own inventory of hand tools to facilitate assigned repairs.
  • Heavy equipment or agricultural experience is a plus.
  • A two-year technical degree may be used in lieu of 2 years of verifiable technical employment.

Physical Requirements

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate construction equipment.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull 50-100 pounds; frequently lift, carry, push, or pull 20-50 pounds; continuously lift, carry, push, or pull 10-20 pounds.
  • Regularly stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, grasp or pull and lift objects.
  • Sit, climb, balance, kneel, stoop, couch, and crawl.
  • Consistently exposed to outside weather conditions, fumes, and loud noise.

Pay

Starting at $25- $35/hr depending on experience.

Schedule

Monday - Friday dayshift.
