Heavy Equipment Shop Service Technician
What You’ll Do
As a Caterpillar Service Technician, you’ll be the go-to expert for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining CAT heavy equipment in our shop. From dozers and excavators to wheel loaders and haul trucks, you’ll ensure every Caterpillar machine performs at peak efficiency.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
Performing diagnostics and repairs on Caterpillar engines, drive-train components, electrical and hydraulic systems.
Inspecting and maintaining CAT equipment, rebuilding components, and ensuring optimal performance.
Servicing air conditioning systems, maintaining detailed service records, and collaborating with fellow technicians on complex Caterpillar repairs.
Using Caterpillar diagnostic tools like Electronic Technician (ET) and Service Information System (SIS) to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Adhering to all safety protocols within the shop environment.
Minimum Skills And Qualifications
A High School Diploma or GED required.
Completion of a technical school program (minimum 2 years) focused on diesel or power equipment systems.
At least 3 years of relevant industry experience, with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on mechanical repair experience on Caterpillar or similar heavy equipment.
Physical Requirements
Lifting/Carrying: 40 lb. Lift/Carry and 50 lb. pulling.
Standing/Sitting: Up and down stairs, standing, sitting, and climbing into machines.
Dexterity: Normal.
Repetitive Motions: Frequent movement requiring hands, wrists, and fingers.
