About the role

Ohio CAT is the authorized Caterpillar dealer in Ohio, dedicated to keeping Caterpillar machines running at their best through expert service and support.

Responsibilities

  • Performing diagnostics and repairs on Caterpillar engines, drive-train components, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Inspecting and maintaining CAT equipment, rebuilding components, and ensuring optimal performance.
  • Servicing air conditioning systems, maintaining detailed service records, and collaborating with fellow technicians on complex Caterpillar repairs.
  • Using Caterpillar diagnostic tools like Electronic Technician (ET) and Service Information System (SIS) to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Adhering to all safety protocols within the shop environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a technical school program (minimum 2 years) focused on diesel or power equipment systems.
  • At least 3 years of relevant industry experience, with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on mechanical repair experience on Caterpillar or similar heavy equipment.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar equipment applications, operations, and functions.
  • Skilled in using Caterpillar diagnostic tools (ET, SIS).
  • Welding experience is a plus!

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting/Carrying: 40 lb. Lift/Carry and 50 lb. Pulling.
  • Standing/Sitting: Up and down stairs, standing, sitting, and climbing into machines.
  • Dexterity: Normal.
  • Repetitive Motions: Frequent movement requiring hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
