Heavy Equipment Shop Technician

Responsibilities

• Complete inspections
• Remove and install parts
• Implement optional accessories
• Maintain equipment
• Perform basic diagnosis and troubleshooting
• Test equipment
• Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Two years of previous heavy equipment experience
• Excellent mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of engine, power train, hydraulics, and electrical systems
• Possess own tools
• A positive attitude and high energy
• Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Volvo VCAD
• Intermediate ability to read and interpret documents, write reports, and speak effectively
• Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
• Intermediate reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to tasks

Physical Demands/Work Environment

• Regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands
• Frequently talk/hear, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
• Occasionally sit, lift up to 25 pounds, lift 26 to 50 pounds, lift from 51 to 100 plus pounds
• Regularly work near moving mechanical parts
• Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, wet or humid conditions (non-weather)
• Risk of electrical shock, vibration
