Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy construction equipment including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, skid steers, rollers, and dump trucks.
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of construction crews and equipment operators.
- Assign tasks and ensure work is completed according to project schedules and specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and site plans.
- Maintain job site safety and enforce OSHA and company safety policies.
- Cook up equipment usage, material deliveries, and workflow on job sites.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or repair needs.
- Communicate with project managers, foremen, subcontractors, and field personnel regarding project progress and site conditions.
- Ensure quality standards are maintained throughout all phases of work.
- Train and mentor crew members on proper equipment operation and safe work practices.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, production tracking, and equipment logs.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED preferred.
- A minimum of 3–5 years of heavy equipment operating experience.
- Previous crew leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- A strong understanding of excavation, grading, utility, site development, or road construction operations.
- The ability to read blueprints and construction drawings.
- A valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
- A knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and construction site procedures.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb in and out of heavy equipment safely.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to walk uneven terrain and inspect job site operations regularly.
- Ability to work extended hours and overtime when required.
Work Environment
- Works primarily on active construction sites with exposure to heavy equipment, dust, noise, and changing weather conditions.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times.
