Heavy Equipment Field Technician 2

About the role

Our construction equipment group is seeking a full-time heavy equipment field technician to report to either our Jackson, MI or Byron Center, MI branches. This is a union position and will be part of Operating Engineers Local 324.

Responsibilities

• Complete inspections
• Remove and install parts
• Implement optional accessories
• Maintain and perform basic diagnosis and troubleshooting
• Test equipment
• Perform general repairs
• Keep the service truck up to date
• Manage inventory of onboard parts
• Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Three years of previous heavy equipment or over the road (OTR) repair experience
• Excellent mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of the following systems: engine, power train, hydraulics and electrical
• Possess own tools
• A positive attitude and high energy
• Accomplish tasks with minimal rework
• Chauffeurs or CDL B endorsement on driver license and a clean driving record

Qualifications

• Intermediate reading and interpreting documents
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to speak effectively before groups
• Basic math skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
• Intermediate reasoning ability: ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions

Skills

• Volvo Level 3 certification
