Milliman’s CMH Health Practice is looking to hire a part-time seasonal healthcare analytics intern for the fall of 2026 (September to December 2026). Independent for more than 75 years, Milliman delivers market-leading services and solutions to clients worldwide, helping companies address critical and complex issues including healthcare financing, risk management, regulatory compliance, and data analytics.

Milliman is one of the leading experts in healthcare financing and delivery. We advise clients on a wide range of issues—from assessing the impact of healthcare reform to streamlining operations while advancing patient care. Our consulting work is supported by data analytics solutions and industry-leading cost guidelines. The team includes actuaries, clinicians, technology specialists, and plan administrators, offering expertise in employee benefits, investment consulting, healthcare, life insurance, financial services, and property and casualty insurance.

Internship Overview

This internship provides:

  • Challenging assignments with practical, on-the-job experience
  • Exposure to analytical functions such as experience studies, valuation, pricing, model development, and forecasting

  • Development of technical skills using platforms like Excel, VBA, Python, and SAS

Responsibilities

  • Perform data analysis using Excel, VBA, SAS, Python, and proprietary Milliman programs to assist with consulting projects
  • Participate in consulting activities including pricing, reserving, financial projections, and mergers and acquisitions
  • Review the work of peers and assist with research and product development
  • Coordinate with consultants, managers, and fellow interns to analyze claims data, quantify insurance costs, and model payment scenarios
  • Handle the majority of technical work, which may include analyzing data, completing actuarial calculations, developing models, and implementing software solutions

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics, finance, accounting, or another major with quantitative coursework
  • Past internship or work experience with an actuarial firm doing data analysis is preferred (including with Milliman)
  • Junior standing is preferred but not required; freshmen and sophomores will also be considered
  • Must be able to work part-time from September 2026 to December 2026
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without immigration support or sponsorship from Milliman now or in the future

Skills and Competencies

  • Ambition and excitement for professional development
  • Good academic standing (3.2 GPA or above preferred)
  • Leadership experience and involvement in extracurricular activities
  • Experience with SAS, VBA, or other coding languages is advantageous
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

Excel, programming, and prior internship experience are a plus but not required.

Location

Preferred on-site work at our Brookfield, WI, Chicago, IL, or Hartford, CT offices. Remote candidates will be considered.

Pay

The overall range for this role is $19.00 - $43.00 per hour. For candidates residing in Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia, the range is $21.00 - $43.00 per hour. For all other locations, the range is $19.00 - $35.00 per hour.
