Health Unit Coordinator - Surgical Services

Role Overview: The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) provides essential organizational, receptionist, and clerical support to patient care units and healthcare teams. Key Responsibilities Monitor and order supplies, answer patient call lights, and elevate patient needs to nursing staff.Assist with managing orders in the electronic health record (EHR) system.Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff via various modalities.Serve as a resource for healthcare team members and support communication across care continuum.Anticipate and respond to team requests and patient needs, supporting the delivery of patient care.Participate in continuous improvement and self-development activities. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent required.Basic computer skills, including Windows applications and internet use.Preferred completion of HUC post-secondary program or certification.Minimum one year of medical environment experience preferred.Knowledge of medical terminology and proficiency with EHR systems (EPIC preferred).Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations and work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.Maintains necessary certifications and licensure. Additional Details: This is a full-time, nonexempt position with a pay rate of $22.12 - $31.21 per hour. The schedule is Monday-Friday with a variable schedule, totaling 72-80 hours per pay period. No weekend shifts are required.
