Health Unit Coordinator – Surgical ICU

The G52/G53/G54 Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) provides top-quality medical support and attention for acute perioperative management needs or acute post-operative complications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome, and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
• Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
• Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
• Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
• Assist with unit clerical functions and in troubleshooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs, and other unit devices.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One year of experience in a customer service-related role.
• Experience with typing, computer training, or equivalent coursework.

Qualifications (Preferred)

• College degree.
• Microsoft Office experience.

Physical Requirements

• Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires frequent data entry, standing, and walking for extensive periods of time.
• Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing, and vision.
• Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.

Personal Protective Equipment

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Schedule

A caregiver in this position works evenings from 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Pay

Pay Range Minimum hourly: $18.25. Maximum hourly: $24.95.
