Health Unit Coordinator - Cardiothoracic ICU

About the role

The J5-6 Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) is a 12-bed unit that specializes in postoperative cardiac and thoracic patients. Common procedures include CABG, valve repair or replacement, MAZE procedures, myectomy, Ross procedures, and thoracic surgeries like lobectomy, pneumonectomy, and esophagectomy.

Responsibilities

• Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
• Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
• Absorb and process patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
• Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
• Aid with unit clerical functions and troubleshoot equipment failures, including call systems, portable phones, WOWs, and other unit devices.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• One year of experience in a customer service-related role
• Experience with typing, computer training, or equivalent coursework

Preferred qualifications

• College degree
• Microsoft Office experience

Physical Requirements

Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision. Some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay

Pay Range Minimum hourly: $18.25
Maximum hourly: $24.95
