This position provides support to the Site Safety Specialist.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with incident investigation and monthly indicator reporting
  • Review and disposition of safety Good Catch reports
  • Identify potential hazards within the work environment
  • Participate in leadership safety walks
  • Support employee training
  • Support Capital Improvement project risk assessment and consultation
  • Training in identification and use of personal protective equipment
  • Lead by example and take ownership of identified issues
  • Seize opportunities to learn by participating in or shadowing activities to increase understanding
  • Facilitate at least one safety improvement project aimed at closing the risk gap and/or cultivating a positive safety culture
  • Implement action items as they relate to improvements identified in leadership safety walks
  • Work independently when possible
  • Ask "why," demonstrate open-mindedness, and challenge the status quo
  • Lead and support change for the sake of improvement
  • Generate new ideas and enthusiasm in pursuit of safety excellence
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled at the Ohio State University
  • Desire to make a difference and affect change
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Strong ethical standard
  • Concern for the well-being of others
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • May involve some lifting
  • Ability to use personal computer, calculator, and work with standard software applications
  • Must be able to detect and understand audible alarms, detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment, and portable radio communication
  • Capable of frequently standing; walking; balancing; sitting; climbing (ladders, stairs, ramps, catwalks, and the like as required); kneeling; pushing; pulling; lifting
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to half and full-face respirators, fall protection equipment, hardhat, safety shoes, safety glasses

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme environmental conditions – heat, cold, humidity, noise, dust

Schedule

This is a part-time internship working up to 20 hours per week. Additional hours/weeks may be available based on business needs and will be discussed in advance with the supervisor. This role requires attendance at a worksite.

Pay

Hourly Range: $22.50 – $25.50 USD hourly. This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate. Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
