About the role
This role is a Kai Ararau – Health Promoter position aimed at providing education and support regarding Rheumatic Fever (RF) across the Te Ikaroa region. The role is part of the Taiora Community team based at Taiwhenua's Health and Social Services site in Hastings.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate educational sessions to groups and whānau.
- Actively promote awareness and risks of RF with various community groups and events.
- Work with the Team and other TToH services to identify promotional opportunities to increase whānau awareness.
- Create resources to engage and educate.
Requirements
- Proven experience working effectively within the community.
- A confident communicator with facilitation skills.
- Passionate about health and wellbeing and RF prevention.
- A good understanding of RF and its risks.
- A self-starter who is motivated to seek out opportunities to promote and educate whānau.
- A knowledge and understanding of tikanga and Te Reo Māori or a willingness to embrace.
- A Level 4 Health Promotion qualification or similar.
- A Full and current Driver’s licence.
- A current First Aid Certificate is advantageous.
Benefits
The role offers a full-time position from Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm, for a fixed term until 30 June 2027. It includes the option to travel around the region and stay overnight during the week or weekends approximately once a month.

Applicants should have a Level 4 Health Promotion qualification or similar, a Full and current Driver’s licence, and a current First Aid Certificate if advantageous.
