Health Promotion - Rheumatic Fever [20 hrs - FXT]
Part-time, fixed-term role (20 hours/week) based in Hastings, Hawke’s Bay. Fixed term until 30 June 2027.
About the role
Whakapiki Oranga Manawa is a new initiative focused on raising awareness about prevention and management of Rheumatic Fever (RF). The purpose of this role is to travel around the region working with other health providers and marae to increase knowledge and awareness about Rheumatic Fever – what it is and how to prevent it. RF is a complex condition that can have lifetime complications. In New Zealand the majority of first-time hospitalisations are school-age tamariki and rangatahi between 4–19 years old, disproportionately impacting Māori and Pasifika whānau. National data shows that in the 2023/2024 period cases of RF increased.
You will work as part of the Taiora Community team based at Taiwhenua’s large Health and Social Services site in Hastings, alongside a wider team who also work in various Health Promotion/Educator roles from pre and post-natal support, Smokefree, parenting and kaumātua support services.
