About the Position

This is the leadership level where employees are assigned responsibilities involving the supervision of technical or clerical personnel in a medical records unit. Duties at this level include having knowledge of methods and techniques of medical records management; of applicable federal and state laws and agency and facility policies and procedures; of current classification systems; of report writing techniques; and of medical terminology. Ability is required to maintain medical records; to code data to records; to review medical records for completeness and accuracy; to prepare reports; to abstract information from records and other patient data; to present information effectively; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to utilize personal computer; and to supervise the work of others.

  • Annual Salary is $41,500.00 plus benefit allowance
  • Scheduled days: Monday – Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
  • The FLSA Status is Non-Exempt

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Accreditation with the American Health Information Management Association as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) and two years of experience in the medical records field;
  • or eligibility for registration with the American Health Information Management Association as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA);
  • or five years of experience working with patient records in a medical setting such as a hospital, state institution, medical clinic or a physician’s office.

Special Requirements

  • Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.

About us

Jim Taliaferro Community Mental Health Center in Lawton, OK is a community-based center with a primary focus on mental health and substance abuse treatment. The inpatient and outpatient services they provide include special groups and programs for adolescents, persons with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, seniors and older adults, women, men, and criminal justice groups.

Drug and Alcohol Pre-employment and Preplacement Testing

Upon a conditional offer of employment, applicants for safety sensitive positions shall be required to submit to urinalysis to test for drugs. Appointment to a safety sensitive position shall be contingent upon a negative drug test result.

About the Agency

THIS AGENCY REQUIRES COVERAGE 24 HOURS, 7 DAYS PER WEEK. WORK HOURS AND LOCATION MAY VARY DEPENDING ON BUSINESS NECESSITY. EMPLOYEES MAY BE REQUIRED TO WORK WEEKENDS AND OVERTIME.
