Position Summary

The Health Coordinator plans, coordinates, and monitors compliance for the CPLC ECD Health Content Area for the region. Ensures the Health Content Areas are in compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS), Colorado laws and regulations at all centers in the region. Health Coordinator (HC) plans, develops, and implements training for staff, parents, providers, and volunteers in collaboration with the Nutrition Coordinator. Promotes school readiness by preparing children and families for school and life success as it relates to this position. Actively supervise children by sight and sound at all times and in all environments. Maintains all health and safety regulations to create an optimum learning environment. Facilitates health practices to keep children safe in the school bus, outdoor and indoor environments.

Minimum Qualifications And Competencies

  • Education/Background: Baccalaureate degree in Health Education/Promotion, Public Health, School Health Services, Child Health or other health related field.

  • Other requirements: Working knowledge of Colorado’s EPSDT/Medicaid guidelines, health care providers and community resources related to health services.

  • Experience working with low-income and culturally diverse children, families and communities.

  • Strong oral and written communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to generate reports and be able to understand the context and how it fits the program.

  • Experience working with comprehensive record keeping systems.

  • Proficient computer, software (e.g. Microsoft Office 365, Adobe) and web-based systems ability.

Preferred qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience of working in a community health system that serves culturally low-income children and families.

  • Knowledge of child development ages birth to five years of age, knowledge of women’s health services and working with pregnant women.

  • Experience and knowledge related to disability service and mental health support for children and families.

  • Training or course work in early childhood nutrition and children with special needs.

  • Knowledge of early childhood development and/or HSPPS and Head Start Act.

  • Bilingual Spanish/English.

About the Role

CPLC's Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs are committed to giving every child, regardless of circumstances at birth, an opportunity to succeed in school and life. Provides full-day, full-year early childhood development services to low income children, ages 0-3 years, and their families in educationally-stimulating learning environments.
