About the Role
Serve as a Health Care Specialist in the Army National Guard, providing emergency and ongoing medical care to civilians after natural disasters and to Soldiers.
Responsibilities
- Administer emergency medical treatment to casualties
- Assist with outpatient and inpatient care
- Train Soldiers in Combat Lifesaver/First Responder skills
- Manage medical readiness, supplies, and equipment
Requirements
- Enlistment in the Army National Guard
- High school diploma or GED
- Ages 17-35
- Ability to pass a physical exam and meet legal/moral standards
- Citizenship as per requirements
Qualifications
- Strong caring and communication abilities
- Ability to work under stress
- Interest in sciences and attention to detail
- Must obtain EMT certification from the National Registry
Training & Career Development
Complete 10 weeks of Basic Training and 16 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT), gaining skills applicable to civilian healthcare roles such as EMT, medical assistant, or physician assistant. Training includes classroom and field practice.
