About the role
Provide emergency care, assessment, intervention, wellness programming, referrals, education and training, and assistance in the coordination of benefits, safety and ergonomic issues, compliance, and regulatory matters that promote health and safety in the workplace. Ensure continuity for the effective delivery of health care.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional and personalized care to meet the medical and emotional needs of employees, including medical intervention for sudden onset of acute illness/injury, and referrals to emergency services, primary care, or other medical attention.
- Assess employee needs, schedule appointments with personal care providers, and monitor treatment plans, including referrals, testing, and follow-up appointments.
- Perform crisis intervention, assessment, and follow-up; refer to EAP and/or other mental health counseling as needed. Educate on community and other resources.
- Maintain reporting and records obligations as required by OSHA, DOT (e.g., OSHA 300 Log).
- Manage medical components of Workers Compensation claims and filing. Provide records and documentation for litigation proceedings; maintain communication with third-party administrators, medical providers, and legal counsel.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment in the Health Center and company medical bags throughout the facilities.
- Oversee the medical and universal waste program.
- Coordinate programs such as bloodborne pathogens, hearing conservation, and respiratory surveillance, including initial or annual/refresher testing and training.
- Assist in accident/injury investigations.
- Support the Company’s Drug and Alcohol program, including employee testing for post-injury or reasonable suspicion.
- Administer the Short Term Disability program and claims; assist with FMLA.
- Plan, direct, and implement wellness programs, including coordinating outside vendors for onsite and offsite events (e.g., biometric screenings, annual flu shots, health fairs).
- Direct and plan executive physical programs and initiate referrals as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of medical records.
- Oversee and monitor the light duty program.
- Investigate ergonomic issues and consult with Safety and Engineering departments to prevent or resolve causes of injury/illness in the workplace.
- Conduct post-offer drug screens.
- Coordinate the First Responder program and continuing education needs.
- Submit articles or distributions to intercompany communication platforms regarding wellness programs or other timely issues.
- Attend workshops, conferences, and seminars to maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant medical issues and peer relationships.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with knowledge of workers’ compensation preferred.
- Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of AX operating system preferred.
Schedule
Full on-site position located in Bradford, PA.
Smoking is permitted in most areas of Zippo workplace facilities, other than certain designated non-smoking areas.
