About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Wellness Director to oversee our health and wellness programs and services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating and implementing health and wellness initiatives to promote the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of our residents. The Health and Wellness Director will work collaboratively with our team to improve overall health and quality of life, ensuring CIEL Senior Living standards and state requirements for resident care are met. This role directs staff, ensures regulatory compliance, and manages the clinical budget.
Responsibilities
- Supports the mission, vision, and goals of the organization, upholding and promoting company culture and vision.
- Directly oversees the delivery of care to residents to ensure emotional, physical, psychological, and safety needs are met through all program services and activities.
- Coordinates, along with the Executive Director, family/resident care conferences and serves as a direct liaison between residents, families, and staff.
- Ensures residents are at appropriate levels of care by working with residents, families, and staff.
- Manages labor costs, supplies, and other line items in the clinical budget.
- Completes weekly and monthly reports as required.
- Monitors documentation systems to ensure regulatory timeframes for review of assessments and service plans are met.
- Writes and reviews residents’ assessments/evaluations and care/service plans with appropriate staff.
- Assesses/evaluates potential residents for admission into the community and determines level of care, including assessments in residents’ homes or other healthcare settings.
- Schedules and conducts new resident orientation upon move-in.
- Plans, schedules, and monitors staff training programs and in-services, including statutory or regulatory required training.
- Attends all required training, in-service, and staff meetings.
- Manages and coordinates the work of all nursing department/clinical staff, including overseeing staff schedules and daily assignments.
- Strives to maintain a safe working environment through accident prevention, equipment preservation, and safe working practices.
- Ensures compliance with all state regulatory requirements, including mandatory reporting to the State.
- Ensures all concern and incident reports are completed, filed, and followed up appropriately.
- Assists and/or performs mock surveys.
- Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, families, and coworkers while adhering to all company policies and procedures.
- Visits residents in hospital/rehab as assigned.
- Organizes and communicates with leadership, residents, associates, and families regarding annual flu clinics, TB testing, and wellness programs.
- Participates in MOD weekend and holiday coverage, as assigned.
- Serves as a member of the backup sales team.
- Participates in the on-call schedule as assigned.
- Counsels residents in identifying and resolving social or other problems.
- Provides 24/7 on-call clinical support.
- Attends training courses and maintains up-to-date monthly, quarterly, and annual training through the designated Learning Management System (LMS).
- Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the community and the care, comfort, and happiness of residents.
Requirements
- Education as required to obtain state nursing license (LPN/LVN or RN).
- Preferred minimum of 3 years of clinical leadership experience.
- Working knowledge of basic technology and electronic documentation.
- Ability to demonstrate appropriate judgment skills and independent clinical decisions in routine and emergency resident care matters.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and flexible hours when necessary to meet the needs of residents.
- Excellent verbal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to travel to conduct resident assessments and required trainings for professional development.
- Current RN or LPN licensure in good standing.

- Squat: Must be able to squat on a frequent basis to reach below the knee; may require lifting of 50 pounds or less.
- Twist or Rotate: Must be able to twist or rotate occasionally at the trunk, hips, knees, and neck, manipulating weights of 25 pounds or more.
- Reach: Must be able to reach on a frequent basis; may occasionally reach overhead (10 pounds or less) and below waist (25 pounds or more).
- Sensory Vision: Must be able to read clearly with or without corrective lenses.
- Hear: Must be able to hear telephone, audible alarms, bells, and signals related to resident safety with or without hearing devices.
- Speech/Language: Must have a strong command of English sufficient to read, write, and interpret administrative information.
