About the role

As a Health and Safety Advisor you will develop, implement, and monitor Health and Safety programs for the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team. You will partner with Business Entities, Operating Companies, and H&S staff to foster an injury‑free culture, support safety excellence through engagement with plant staff and leadership, incident review, safety trend tracking, and provide training and guidance. You will report to the HSE & IPOS Director and help develop a comprehensive Health and Safety Management System for ENGIE Energy Solutions North America.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor H&S programs for the O&M team.
  • Partner with Business Entities, Operating Companies, and H&S staff to influence an injury‑free organizational culture.
  • Engage plant staff and leadership in safety excellence initiatives, incident review, and safety trend tracking.
  • Provide training, guidance, and on‑site supervision to ensure compliance.
  • Support H&S database management and deliver monthly statistical reports to corporate and Business Unit executives.
  • Conduct regular on‑site training, compliance audits, incident investigations, and safety cultural assessments.
  • Lead serious incident investigations into High‑Potential (HiPo) incidents, including lost‑time accidents.
  • Apply Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) tools to determine causal factors and identify countermeasures.
  • Manage selection of third‑party H&S auditors, consultants, and contractors.
  • Review contractor safety plans and procedures to ensure they meet or exceed ENGIE North America safety criteria.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Engineering, Business, or equivalent.
  • Eligibility for Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification; OSHA safety certifications preferred.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of Safety Management experience, including at least three (3) years in thermal power generation and energy distribution.

Qualifications

  • Subject‑matter expert in OSHA (US) CFR 29 Parts 1910 & 1926.
  • Proficiency with root‑cause failure analysis tools and their application to recordable events.
  • Experience applying behavioral science and psychology to influence safety‑related change.
  • Background in commercial and industrial construction environments, including new‑construction solar and battery storage sites.
  • Familiarity with facility O&M management and HVAC mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) contractors in C&I construction.
  • Ability to manage H&S database reporting and produce statistical analyses.
  • Strong leadership, management, communication, organizational, operational, and prioritization skills.

Pay

Salary range: $102,000 – $156,400 USD annually (average expected range for qualified candidates). In addition to base pay, the position is eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive plan.

Schedule

  • Field position requiring regular travel to operational sites.
  • Daily attendance at a worksite; up to 75% domestic travel with occasional overnight trips.
  • Work composition: approximately 75% indoors, 25% outdoors (weather exposure possible).
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record.
