About the Role

Ensuring Chart’s success, the employee in this position will remove all non-conformities from completed headers per Work Instructions and procedures. Uses rule, scale, protractor, straight edge, plumbline, gauge, power grinding and chipping tools, and other hand tools as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Follows all safety policies and company-wide safety requirements; encourages action assuring safe behavior; confronts unsafe behavior and conditions proactively and positively.
  • Reads, writes, and speaks English fluently.
  • Attends, participates in, and conducts pre-shift and weekly safety meetings.
  • Complies with all Chart policies and procedures including Attendance, Code of Conduct, PPE/Dress Code, Teamwork, etc.
  • Predictably and regularly attends work and is punctual.
  • Deals politely and professionally with customers and/or coworkers.
  • Follows direction or instruction.
  • Clocks in and out of Time and Attendance, jobs, etc.
  • Manages and flips all sizes of headers.
  • Removes flash burn and weld splatter; grinds and dresses weld seams and corners; and smoothes curved surfaces in preparation for final finish or plating.
  • Analyzes prints or instructions for discrepancies.
  • Rolls and Closes job or Completes operation in Syteline.
  • Cross-trains in other areas/departments as needed.
  • Reads, analyzes, understands, and demonstrates knowledge of Chart Quality Systems including travelers, work instructions, In-Process Inspection Check Lists, etc.
  • Conducts himself/herself in a considerate, professional, cooperative, and helpful manner toward fellow employees, customers, vendors, and visitors.
  • Complies with all Chart policies and procedures including Attendance, Code of Conduct, Dress Code, Behavior, etc.

Equipment Used

  • Crane, hoists, etc.
  • Grinders, inspection lights, buggers, rule, scale, protractor, straight edge, plumbline, gauge, hand tools, etc.

Physical Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motion.

Physical Requirements

  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Exert up to 30 pounds of force frequently.
  • Exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly.

Visual Acuity Requirements

The worker is required to have close visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned, inspect work, etc.

Working Conditions

  • Indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
  • Activities occur inside and outside.
  • Extreme heat: temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
  • Noise: sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
  • Vibration to the extremities or whole body.
  • Hazards: includes proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, or exposure to chemicals.
  • Atmospheric conditions: one or more conditions that affect the respiratory system or skin, such as fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
  • Small spaces: the worker may be required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.

This position is classified as safety sensitive. Due to the use of heavy machinery, power tools, and exposure to potentially hazardous conditions, the role requires heightened awareness and adherence to all safety protocols. Employees must be able to perform duties in a manner that ensures their own safety and the safety of others in the workplace.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior manufacturing experience.
  • Uses rule, scale, protractor, straight edge, plumbline, gauge, power grinding and chipping tools, and other hand tools as needed.
