The Head Women's Basketball Coach is responsible for the development and maintenance of an effective and competitive NCAA Division III Women's Basketball program. This role includes teaching the skills and strategies necessary for student-athletes to become competitive and successful. Recruitment and retention of quality student-athletes are integral to this position. The Head Coach will promote the physical, intellectual, and social growth of student-athletes and direct all aspects of the assigned sport program.

Responsibilities

• Provide a framework for student-athletes to perform to their potential by teaching and developing skill levels and game strategies during practice sessions, ensuring safety and proper instruction.
• Set expectations for appropriate team conduct during competition, travel, practice, University events, and any other times when the team represents the University.
• Understand and comply with all rules and guidelines set forth by the NCAA Division III, College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), Carroll University, and Carroll University Athletics.
• Develop competitive teams within the conference, region, and nationally by maximizing student-athletes' talents while promoting teamwork.
• Guide student-athletes through teaching life skills and social responsibility to improve their physical, intellectual, and social maturity.
• Create an environment for student-athletes to learn integrity, camaraderie, and respect, fostering a positive atmosphere.
• Serve as a resource for student-athletes balancing academic and athletic demands.
• Foster University and community interest in the program.
• Articulate and contribute to the goals of the University and Department.
• Act as a professional and positive representative of the Carroll University Educational Experience.
• Provide support to student-athletes and create a network of support within the team and through campus resources.
• Plan, organize, and manage all in-season and out-of-season practices and competitions.
• Oversee conduct and discipline of the team and retain student-athletes at Carroll University.
• Manage, inventory, and update equipment, and assist with the management of game and practice facilities.
• Select, supervise, teach, and evaluate all assistant coach staff, including full-time, part-time/graduate assistants, student assistants, and volunteer coaches.
• Organize and administer team fundraising, alumni activities, and camp/clinic programs, as well as participate in departmental and University fundraising.
• Perform public relations and promotional activities for the sport, department, and University.
• Implement standards and safety guidelines for Professional Strength and Conditioning Practice(s).
• Maintain compliance with current NCAA strength and conditioning regulations.
• Assist with facility and equipment setup, inspection, and maintenance in the weight room.
• Implement emergency planning and response in the weight room.
• Collaborate with Human Performance coaches and serve as a weight room monitor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (required).
• Master’s degree (preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive coaching experience on the intercollegiate level (preferred).
• Knowledge of and compliance with the NCAA Division III mission and philosophies (preferred).
• Budgeting background (preferred).
• Current valid Strength and Conditioning certification.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Valid driver’s license and insurable under the University’s plan.
• Willingness to work weekend and/or evening hours.

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act and will require reporting Clery crimes to Public Safety and completing annual training.
