Part-time Head Men’s & Women’s Tennis Coach position at Houghton University.
About the role
The Head Men’s & Women’s Tennis Coach is responsible for all aspects of the tennis program, including recruiting, coaching, scheduling, budget management, and compliance with NCCAA and institutional policies. This position requires a commitment to the spiritual development of student-athletes alongside athletic excellence.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and conduct practices and competitions for both men’s and women’s tennis teams.
- Recruit qualified student-athletes who align with the university’s mission and athletic standards.
- Develop and manage the program budget, including travel, equipment, and operational expenses.
- Ensure compliance with NCCAA, conference, and institutional regulations.
- Foster a Christ-centered environment that promotes spiritual growth, teamwork, and personal development.
- Coordinate team travel, lodging, and meals for away competitions.
- Collaborate with athletic department staff on scheduling, fundraising, and promotional activities.
- Maintain equipment inventory and oversee facility usage for practices and home matches.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience at the collegiate or competitive club level.
- Strong knowledge of tennis techniques, strategies, and rules.
- Ability to recruit, mentor, and develop student-athletes in both athletic and spiritual capacities.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Houghton University and the NCCAA.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a program budget and administrative responsibilities.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for recruiting and competitions.
- CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
