Head Start and Early Head Start Home-Based Specialist

About the role

As the Home-Based Specialist, you’ll play an essential role in the planning, implementation, coordination, training, and evaluation of the Home-Based Early Head Start program. You will oversee the implementation of Head Start Performance Standards applicable to home-based services, ensuring high-quality early childhood education through a family-centered approach.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the training and professional development of the home visiting team to ensure high-quality early childhood education services.
• Work closely with content area Specialists, Education/Site Managers, and Home-Based Services Managers to enhance collaborative elements of the program.
• Support transitions between home-based and center-based services in collaboration with the leadership team.
• Oversee the implementation of the home-based curriculum (prenatal to 5 years) and family goal-setting practices.
• Ensure the Agency Recruitment Plan is implemented to maintain full enrollment of the Home-Based Program.
• Collect program data and share relevant information with team members to improve participant and staff experiences.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
• Five years of experience teaching young children; 2 years of supervisory or management-level experience in a related field preferred.
• Knowledge of the needs of children with disabilities; experience observing and programming for children and facilitating inclusive environments.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of community, county, state, and federal policies regarding Head Start and Childcare Licensing preferred.
• Skills in program development, implementation, operation, evaluation, and fiscal management preferred.
• Attention to detail, confidentiality, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive workplace and early childhood classroom experience.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Successful completion of a criminal record check and CPR/First Aid certification.
• A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required for occasional travel between program locations.

Pay

$33.80–$36.93 per hour, based on level of education and relative work experience.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week.
