About the role

A reputable residential remodeling and home improvement company serving the Greater Boston area for nearly 40 years is seeking an experienced Head of Residential Construction Operations to oversee and improve daily operations across production, scheduling, resources, systems, and team performance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operational performance across multiple active residential remodeling projects, maintaining consistency, quality, and profitability.
  • Develop and maintain a reliable scheduling system, ensuring labor, materials, and subcontractor capacity are aligned with the sales pipeline and project commitments.
  • Maintain profitability by managing project margins, labor productivity, material controls, and change order procedures. Establish KPIs to monitor operational performance.
  • Maintain consistent quality control, improve the homeowner experience, and uphold high standards for safety, communication, and job site cleanliness.
  • Lead, coach, and develop project managers and operations staff to achieve high-level performance. Build stronger subcontractor relationships through clear expectations and regular performance reviews.
  • Improve job tracking, documentation, communication, and overall operational efficiency as the company continues to grow.

Requirements

  • Experience: 15+ years of operations leadership experience, ideally within residential construction, remodeling, or home improvement. Experience in design/build operations is preferred.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage multi-project operations and lead teams toward achieving company goals. Strong experience in scheduling, subcontractor management, and client service.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong knowledge of margins, labor productivity, job costing, and cost controls.
  • Process-Driven: Ability to create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), uphold standards, and improve operational throughput.
  • Strong Communication: A clear communicator who can resolve conflict, align teams, and maintain high standards without unnecessary drama.
  • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using technology and job tracking systems, including Excel, CRM platforms, and project management tools.
