Position Summary

The Head of Maintenance is responsible for overseeing and performing all maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance activities for the travel center. This hands-on leadership role ensures the facility, equipment, fuel systems, and mechanical infrastructure are operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Oversee all maintenance operations for the travel center

  • Perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on facility equipment and building systems

  • Diagnose and repair HVAC systems, walk-in coolers, refrigeration equipment, boilers, plumbing, electrical, and general mechanical systems

  • Maintain and repair fuel dispensing equipment and ensure compliance with underground storage tank (UST) regulations

  • Operate, maintain, and repair snow removal equipment, including plow trucks

  • Perform general facility repairs including doors, lighting, flooring, fixtures, painting, and exterior maintenance

  • Cook with outside vendors and contractors for specialized repairs when necessary

  • Maintain maintenance records, inspections, and regulatory documentation

  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and company standards

  • Respond to after-hours maintenance emergencies as needed

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of commercial or industrial maintenance experience

  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, boilers, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems

  • Experience maintaining fuel systems and convenience store/travel center equipment preferred

  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of equipment with minimal supervision

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions

Required Certifications

  • Current Underground Storage Tank (UST) Certification (required)

  • Boiler Class C License required or the ability to obtain within a designated timeframe after hire

  • EPA Section 608 Refrigeration Certification preferred

  • Additional HVAC, electrical, or mechanical certifications are a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 pounds

  • Climb ladders, work on rooftops, crawl in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods

  • Work safely around electrical, mechanical, and fuel systems

Availability

  • Available for on-call emergencies, weekends, holidays, and after-hours maintenance when required
