The Head of Forward Deployed Engineering role is being recruited by Jill, an AI Recruiter, on behalf of a customer. The next step involves speaking with Jack.

About the role

You will lead the post-sale function, turning signed contracts into successful deployments. You will bridge the gap between customers, product, and engineering, designing technical playbooks and scaling the FDE team to help physical traders modernize their legacy workflows with AI-driven automation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex technical implementations including data modeling, API integrations, and document extraction workflows for physical trading customers.
  • Build the FDE function from the ground up, establishing operating cadences, escalation paths, and scalable onboarding templates.
  • Translate messy real-world customer requirements into crisp product specifications and work closely with engineering to influence the roadmap.

Requirements

  • Over 5 years of experience in Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or Technical Customer Success at a high-growth startup.
  • Hands-on technical proficiency with the ability to write code, debug complex workflows, and reason through LLM-based data models.
  • Proven track record of managing multi-stakeholder deployments and a deep curiosity for solving operational edge cases in global logistics.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the commodities industry is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills to bridge the gap between customers, product, and engineering teams.

Skills

  • Technical proficiency with data modeling, API integrations, and document extraction workflows.
  • Ability to translate customer requirements into product specifications.
  • Experience in managing multi-stakeholder deployments.
  • Curiosity to solve operational edge cases in global logistics.
