Role Overview
CommodityAI is building the operating system for the global commodities industry, and we're looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to join our team in San Francisco. We are automating the manual workflows behind energy, metals, and agriculture that power the world. In this role, you'll sit at the intersection of AI and real-world logistics, turning messy unstructured data into repeatable software deployments. With a product selling faster than we can onboard, you'll have massive impact, direct mentorship from our founding team, and the chance to shape the future of global trade infrastructure.
What You Will Do
- Configure data schemas and AI extraction workflows to turn messy real-world documents and emails into structured, actionable trade data.
- Lead customer onboarding workstreams from initial scoping and technical configuration through to user acceptance testing and successful go-live.
- Build internal tools, scripts, and automation templates that accelerate the deployment process and create leverage for the entire engineering function.
Who This Is A Fit For
- 1-3 years of experience in software engineering, implementation engineering, or a technical consulting role with strong coding skills in Python or TypeScript.
- Proven technical proficiency with APIs, structured data models, and the ability to diagnose complex issues across AI-driven systems.
- Exceptional communication skills and an operator mindset, comfortable managing multiple customer workstreams in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment.
Why This Role Is Remarkable
- Work at the epicenter of global trade, transforming the foundational sector responsible for moving the world’s energy, metals, and agricultural resources.
- Join a high-growth environment where the product is selling faster than it can be onboarded, offering massive scale and impact.
- Gain high-agency experience with direct mentorship from the founding team while building the company’s deployment playbooks from the ground up.
