About the role
Serve as the senior finance leader and direct business partner to the owner. Significant autonomy to design and lead the company’s finance and operating infrastructure. Broad visibility across financial performance, cash flow, contracts, tax, operations, and strategic planning. Direct involvement in preparing the organization for continued growth. Opportunity to introduce AI, automation, and modern systems into the finance and back-office environment.
Responsibilities
- Own cash flow management, liquidity planning, and 13-week cash forecasting
- Maintain accurate financial reporting while ensuring the business remains focused on cash generation and cash-on-cash returns
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, tax coordination, financial controls, and transaction readiness
- Partner with external advisors, including accounting, tax, and legal resources
- Build a scalable, efficient finance function supported by virtual resources, outside partners, automation, and modern technology
- Provide white-glove support to consultants and field leaders who are responsible for generating revenue and delivering client outcomes
- Support the owner in evaluating strategic investments, profitability, growth initiatives, and future transaction opportunities
Requirements
- Senior finance leadership experience within professional services, consulting, or another project-based business
- Strong understanding of cash flow management, liquidity forecasting, and 13-week cash modeling
- Prior experience supporting an acquisition, sale, recapitalization, or other business transaction
- Comfortable operating as a hands-on finance leader within a lean organization
- Experience overseeing accounting, reporting, tax, contracts, and basic business operations
- Strong commercial judgment with the ability to review engagement terms, proposals, and contracts
- Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort working directly with an owner
- Technology-forward orientation with a strong interest in AI, automation, and process improvement
- Service mentality and ability to support senior consultants and field teams with urgency and professionalism
Qualifications
- CPA, MBA, or other relevant advanced credential is preferred
Skills
- Strong financial analysis and reporting skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience with project-based business models
- Knowledge of accounting, tax, and contract law
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related financial software
