Head of Admissions, Alpha - $250,000/year USD
About the Role
While most enrollment positions chase numbers, this role is designed to safeguard quality. Alpha is developing one of the most forward-thinking school models globally. Our campuses integrate demanding academics, technology-enabled instruction, and elevated expectations for both students and educators. Students routinely outpace national learning benchmarks, supported by measurable evidence. Afternoons are dedicated to deeper exploration, self-directed work, and the cultivation of practical competencies. The model delivers results. But success depends entirely on enrolling the right families. That is your mandate.
You will control the complete admissions process for a campus, beginning with the application and concluding with enrollment. This is not a coordination position. You are accountable for the family experience, the clarity with which they grasp our model, and whether enrollment decisions rest on sound reasoning. You will evaluate compatibility, facilitate informed dialogue, and advocate for "no" when circumstances warrant it. Maximum enrollment is not the objective. The objective is strategic alignment.
We welcome candidates from high-caliber service backgrounds outside conventional education: independent schools, competitive admissions programs, elite hospitality, executive concierge services, premium membership communities, or entrepreneurial operators who have directly overseen sophisticated client experiences from start to finish. What counts is your capacity to execute a meticulous, phased engagement with sound judgment, precision, and accountability. If your career has been defined by delivering exceptional service where trust, confidentiality, and experience integrity shape the brand, this opportunity will resonate.
What You Will Be Doing
- Taking full ownership of the enrollment process for prospective families, from initial engagement through onboarding completion.
- Facilitating exploratory conversations to evaluate alignment before introducing solutions or advising on subsequent actions.
- Overseeing 20+ concurrent family engagements at varying enrollment stages, maintaining transparent tracking and timely follow-through.
- Orchestrating campus visits, student shadow days, and enrollment discussions that articulate expectations, results, and the ideal candidate profile.
- Sustaining precise CRM and enrollment documentation (HubSpot and SIS) to enable forecasting, strategic focus, and consistent service excellence.
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Employing volume-driven or aggressive conversion methods.
- Accepting families who do not align with the model merely to meet enrollment targets.
- Overseeing teams or working through complex hierarchical structures.
- Distributing responsibility for the family journey across multiple staff members.
- Operating remotely. This is an on-campus position by necessity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver a high-integrity, selective enrollment process that attracts aligned families while preserving the standards and effectiveness of the Alpha educational model.
Basic Requirements
- 3+ years providing exceptional, tailored service in settings where the quality of service is inseparable from brand integrity (education, elite hospitality, executive assistance, premium membership organizations, or independently managed service ventures).
- Proven track record managing a complete client, admissions, or enrollment lifecycle from initial outreach through successful onboarding.
- Experience coordinating 20+ client, guest, or family relationships concurrently across multiple stages, supported by a structured approach to organization and prioritization.
- Capacity to offer specific instances of consultative judgment, including situations where you advised against your offering when misalignment was evident.
- Professional correspondence experience with C-level executives, high-net-worth clients, or discerning stakeholders.
- Willingness to reside in or relocate within 60 days to one of the following locations: San Rafael, CA; or Palo Alto, CA.
- Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
Nice-to-have Requirements
- Background in admissions for selective independent schools or competitive enrollment programs.
- Experience in premium hospitality, VIP client services, or executive support capacities.
- Track record developing or optimizing enrollment workflows, standard operating procedures, or service frameworks.
- Proficiency leveraging data and CRM analytics to enhance enrollment fit, not merely throughput.
