Director of Admissions, Alpha - $250,000/year USD

About the Role

While most enrollment positions focus on maximizing volume, this role is designed to safeguard standards. Alpha is constructing one of the world's most ambitious educational models. Our campuses integrate rigorous academics with technology-enabled learning and elevated expectations for both students and staff. Students routinely progress faster than national averages, and measurable results validate this approach. Afternoons are dedicated to deeper exploration, independent work, and practical skill development. The model is effective. However, success depends entirely on selecting the right families. That is your responsibility.

You will manage the complete admissions experience for a campus, spanning application to enrollment. This is not a role where you hand off responsibility. You determine how families perceive us, how thoroughly they grasp the model, and whether enrollment choices are made with full understanding. You will evaluate compatibility, facilitate informed discussions, and advise against enrollment when appropriate. The objective is not maximum volume. The objective is mutual alignment.

We welcome candidates from high-touch service backgrounds outside conventional education: selective private schools, competitive programs, premium hospitality, executive-level support, exclusive membership organizations, or entrepreneurial operators who have directly managed high-value client experiences from start to finish. What counts is your capacity to execute a nuanced, multi-phase process with discernment, precision, and reliability. If your career has centered on delivering exceptional service where trust, professionalism, and experience quality define reputation, this role will resonate.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Managing the complete enrollment experience for prospective families, from initial inquiry to final onboarding.
  • Facilitating needs-based consultations to evaluate compatibility before proposing solutions or outlining next steps.
  • Tracking 20+ concurrent family relationships across varying stages of the enrollment cycle, with transparent status tracking and timely follow-up.
  • Guiding campus visits, student shadow days, and decision-making discussions that articulate outcomes, expectations, and the ideal candidate profile.
  • Ensuring CRM and student information system accuracy (HubSpot and SIS) to enable forecasting, prioritization, and consistent service delivery.

What You Won't Be Doing

  • Applying transactional or aggressive sales techniques.
  • Accepting families who are not aligned simply to meet enrollment targets.
  • Overseeing a large staff or working through complex approval hierarchies.
  • Dividing responsibility for the family experience across multiple team members.
  • Operating remotely. This position requires on-campus presence.

Director Of Admissions Key Responsibilities

Lead and deliver a trust-based, selective enrollment process that secures the right families while upholding the integrity and effectiveness of the Alpha educational model.

Basic Requirements

  • 3+ years providing premium, individualized service in settings where service excellence directly shapes brand perception (education, luxury hospitality, executive support, exclusive membership organizations, or independently operated services).
  • Proven ownership of a complete client, admissions, or enrollment experience from initial engagement through onboarding.
  • Experience managing 20+ concurrent client, guest, or family engagements at various stages, supported by an organized tracking and prioritization method.
  • Capacity to share specific examples of advisory decision-making, including instances where you recommended against your offering when fit was poor.
  • Professional-level written communication with senior executives, affluent clients, or discerning stakeholders.
  • Willingness to reside in or relocate within 60 days to one of the following locations: San Rafael, CA; or Palo Alto, CA.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Background in selective independent school admissions or competitive program recruitment.
  • Experience in premium hospitality, VIP client services, or executive support functions.
  • Track record of developing or improving enrollment workflows, standard operating procedures, or service protocols.
  • Proficiency leveraging data and CRM tools to enhance conversion quality rather than simply accelerating speed.
