Head Men's & Women's Swim Coach
Job Summary
Bucknell University is seeking a Head Men’s and Women’s Swim Coach to lead, manage, and develop a competitive collegiate, NCAA DI program.
Job Duties
- Provides general leadership and training for the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams, directing workouts and coordinating with the sports performance staff within Athletic Training and Strength and Conditioning for appropriate skill set training.
- Instructs student-athletes on specific techniques, skills, and strategies.
- Establishes goals for each student athlete and assesses performance through the completion of evaluations and consistent feedback.
- Maintains a team culture of discipline and respect, addressing grievances, and developing a framework for corrective actions as necessary.
- Manages all home competition logistics and planning. Creates a home and away competition schedule.
- Performs effective budget planning and adherence to expense parameters ensure the timely execution of departmental/institutional budget procedures on an annual basis.
- Supervises and provides ongoing development and evaluation of assistant coaches.
- Works with the sports administrator and the advancement office to achieve annual fundraising goals and works to cultivate and build relationships with alumni, parents, and other supporters.
- Establishes a recruiting strategy that effectively identifies and recruits prospective student-athletes who align academically and athletically with the university and athletic department's mission and values.
- Monitors the academic progress of student-athletes. Connects student-athletes with campus resources in the area of Life Skills (i.e., career development, financial education, mental health, nutrition, etc.).
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Athletic Training, or a related field
- Minimum of four years of experience coaching swimming in the collegiate setting
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
- Valid US driver's license/Motor Vehicle Check required upon hire
Preferred, But Not Required
- Master’s Degree, and 5+ years of experience
- Proven success coaching swimming at NCAA Division I level
- Proven integrity and leadership skills. Strong commitment and ability to motivate, teach, counsel, and recruit academically qualified student-athletes
Physical Requirements
Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Reporting Relationship
Reports to the Senior Associate Director of Athletics
Work Setting/Schedule
Primarily on-campus Must be able to travel with the team for competitions and for recruiting, per the permitted recruiting calendar Requires night and weekend availability
Salary Range
$72,640.00 - $90,800.00
