Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
- Aid the Head Coach in planning and preparing team training, travel, coaching on-deck at daily morning and afternoon practices, dryland training, recruiting, student-athlete development, and fundraising.
- Support the coaching staff with team meetings and other administrative duties as it relates to the program, including equipment organization/distribution, placing of meal orders, social media, etc.
- Attend meetings related to coaching: working with the head coach and other staff.
- Complete all required departmental and institutional training and certification programs and participate actively in available professional development opportunities.
- Comply with the policies, rules, and regulations set forth by the NCAA Division III and Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (MIAC), Carleton College and the Athletic Department.
- Understand and support students who are balancing multiple responsibilities as students and athletes in a rigorous academic environment.
- Demonstrate the highest level of sportsmanship and conduct during practices and contests.
Additional Responsibilities
- Teach PE activity class(es).
Education/Experience/Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree (BA or BS).
- One to two years coaching or playing at the collegiate level.
- Commitment to the student-athlete, passion for the sport, attention to detail as well as excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to help recruit, teach and coach highly talented scholar-athletes who can succeed in a challenging academic environment.
- Current certification in American Red Cross (or equivalent) Lifeguarding is required.
- Valid driver’s license.
- The ability to understand and follow written and oral work instructions, operations, safety procedures, and hazardous labels.
