About the Role

The Head Coach, Men's Lacrosse is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Men's Lacrosse program, including coaching, recruiting, practice planning and preparation, competition scheduling, fundraising, budgetary management, strength & conditioning, academic monitoring, and other duties as assigned. This role is pivotal to the program's competitive success, University and community relations, and the academic achievement of student-athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Recruiting
    • Oversee and implement all aspects of the recruiting process.
    • Identify and evaluate prospective student-athletes.
    • Engage in communication with prospects, parents, coaches, and advisors through extensive travel, written, and verbal correspondence.
    • Attract potential student-athletes to Manhattanville University.
    • Communicate with the Compliance Officer to ensure NCAA policies are followed.
  • Coaching
    • Oversee and direct all aspects of coaching during practice and games.
    • Enhance the development of student-athletes' lacrosse skills through team practice and one-on-one instruction.
    • Ensure proper safety procedures are followed by all student-athletes.
    • Work with athletics trainers and physicians to implement team wellness and conditioning programs.
    • Provide direction to the Strength and Conditioning coach regarding training goals.
    • Understand and comply with NCAA, Skyline Conference, and Manhattanville University policies.
    • Maintain consistent communication with compliance staff and athletic administrators.
    • Monitor academic progress of student-athletes.
    • Coordinate the program's fundraising activities.
    • Responsible for scheduling contests.
  • Perform other additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (required).
  • Current knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and policies.
  • Intercollegiate coaching and playing experience.
  • Recruiting experience at a collegiate level.
  • CPR/AED Certified.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Travel required for competitions and recruiting.
  • Ability to perform game-day supervision duties of other sporting events as assigned.
  • Knowledge of effective coaching techniques and best practices.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with school administrators, parents, students, and alumni.
  • Ability to lead and work independently as well as within a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with student-athletes, coaches, athletic, and university administration.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move sport-related equipment such as goals, weights, cones, etc.
  • Ability to physically perform coaching tasks such as demonstrating drills to players.
  • Ability to lift items more than 50 lbs as part of game-day supervision duties.

Pay

The annual salary for this position is $57,058.00.

Schedule

Full-time, 35 hours per week.
