About the role

Mount Aloysius College, repeatedly recognized by ModernThink as a “Great College to Work For,” invites applications for a dynamic leader and experienced coach to join our Division III Athletics Program as its part-time Head Coach for Men’s & Women’s Tennis.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure continued growth and development of the Men’s and Women’s Tennis program through effective strategies and planning that promote the program.
  • Plan/direct the activities of the Men’s and Women’s Tennis teams and be directly responsible for the recruitment and retention of student athletes.
  • Meet or exceed annual recruitment goals established in collaboration with the VP for Athletics & Community Outreach.
  • Support overall athletic recruiting efforts at the College, and recruit for other sports as deemed appropriate by the VP for Athletics & Community Outreach.
  • Guide and oversee conditioning of student athletes, instruct players in techniques of the game, assess players’ skills, assign positions, evaluate own and opposing team capabilities, promote camaraderie and instill good sportsmanship.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned in support of the Department of Athletics (game management, recruiting, sports information, etc.) and collaborate with other coaching staff to support College and department goals and objectives.
  • Oversee Assistant Coach(es) or Graduate Assistant as may be assigned.
  • Plan and lead at least one Community service initiative for the Men’s and Women’s Tennis teams annually.
  • Broadly engage with the Mount community and establish a network to advance the development of the Men’s and Women’s Tennis program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in physical education, sports management, recreation, health, or related field of study preferred.
  • Colligate tennis experience preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years coaching experience as an assistant coach or high school head coach required, or equivalent combination of coaching and playing experience.
  • Knowledgeable of NCAA Division III philosophy, rules and regulations pertaining to men’s and women’s tennis.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, student athletes/players, and recruits.
  • Ability to motivate and lead student athletes individually and in a team setting.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and some holidays.
  • Travel and occasional overnight stays expected for matches and recruiting.

Benefits

This part-time position is not eligible for benefits. This position is on campus in Cresson, PA and is not eligible for remote work. This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time; all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of their application.
