Head Coach - Men's Basketball

About the role

Join Baker College’s newly established athletic department as the Head Coach for men’s basketball. This is a unique opportunity to build a premier intercollegiate basketball program from the ground up, reflecting Baker College’s values and vision for student success. The Head Coach serves as a key leader and strategic visionary, overseeing all aspects of program development, including training, competition strategy, recruiting, and operations, while ensuring compliance with NAIA and WHAC regulations. As a mentor and ambassador, the Head Coach fosters a culture of excellence, integrity, sportsmanship, and inclusion, supporting the academic, athletic, and personal success of student-athletes.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and evaluate prospective student-athletes.
• Supervise and develop coaching staff.
• Manage budgets and program operations.
• Coordinate team logistics, including travel and scheduling.
• Engage in ongoing professional development.
• Represent Baker College with professionalism on and off campus.
• Ensure compliance with NAIA and WHAC regulations.
• Foster a culture of excellence, integrity, sportsmanship, and inclusion.
• Support the academic, athletic, and personal success of student-athletes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Kinesiology, Education, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
• 3–5 years of collegiate coaching experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
• Familiarity with NAIA or NCAA recruitment and eligibility standards.
• Proven record of effective coaching, student-athlete development, and budget management.
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
• Valid driver’s license.
