Memory Care Activity Assistant
Join, stay, and grow with Benchmark. We are seeking a compassionate Memory Care Activity Assistant to support our residents.
Responsibilities
- Lead and implement one-on-one, small group and large group activities according to the programming schedule
- Aid in the development and implementation of an innovative seven-day-a-week activity program
- Support residents' abilities by understanding their background, participation needs, physical abilities, interests, cognitive capacity, and attention span
- Encourage and motivate residents to attend and participate in programming and activities
- Communicate any changes in residents' condition or behavior patterns to the Activity Director
- Stay with groups at all times during excursions and drive the van when necessary
Requirements
- High school diploma, bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and knowledge of aging and disability issues
- Experience and training to develop programs appropriate for elders and disabled individuals
- Training and knowledge in recreational activities
- Training and knowledge of Alzheimer's and related dementias
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and the community
- Show a consistent ability to coordinate multiple tasks, demonstrate a positive attitude, and work well under pressure
