About the role

Under direct supervision, the Hangar Operations Support Technician ensures the smooth and efficient functioning of aircraft maintenance operations within the hangar. This position provides essential support to maintenance personnel, maintains hangar efficiency and cleanliness, and contributes to a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance Assistance (80% of job):
    • Cater and de-cater aircraft
    • Move LAVs and GALLEYs to and from Back-Shop areas
    • Remove, load, and transport aircraft seats
    • Transfer life vests from old seats to new seats
    • Assist with aircraft cleaning as needed
    • Provide spotting assistance for mechanics and Quality Control (QC) personnel
    • Perform cleaning tasks on engine cowl surfaces
    • Retape wheels and other components for maintenance and safety
    • Communicate work progress and difficulties to co-workers and leadership
    • Accurately clock into jobs
  • Hangar Floor (20% of job):
    • Gather items from other locations and pick-up areas
    • Locate ladders, carts, tools, and other requested items for mechanics
    • Move off units to temporary staging areas
    • Coordinate with Supply Chain Logistics (SCL) for deliveries
    • Perform general housekeeping: dispose of scrap metal, wood, cardboard, empty trash, sweep entryways, and assist with emergency spills
    • Conduct Foreign Object Debris (FOD) walks and sweeps in hangar bays
    • Inspect chemical cabinets bi-monthly and dispose of expired items
    • Clean out alodine tank weekly
    • Notify lead of bloodborne pathogen or pest control issues
    • Inspect worktables for serviceability and route unserviceable tables for repair
    • Clean sanding rooms and remove accumulated debris
    • Return chemicals, cleco’s, rags, bottle jacks, and shoring to proper locations
    • Roll up and stow extension cords, air hoses, and lights when not in use

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • General labor experience highly preferred
  • Experience in aviation or MRO preferred

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will:

  • Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
  • Use hands and arms to handle tools and materials
  • Talk, hear, and focus on objects close up
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally, using proper lifting protocols

Pay

The full base pay range for this position is $20.77 – $24.00 hourly, not including bonuses or benefits. Pay is determined by experience, skills, education, and internal equity. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.

Schedule

Monday through Thursday, 2:30 PM – 1:00 AM
