Hand Therapist
About the role
The Staff Occupational Therapist, the Occupational Therapist II, reports to the Clinical Supervisor, Occupational Therapy and provides both direct and indirect patient care services. The O.T. II works primarily with adult and geriatric patients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, although pediatric and adolescent patients may also be treated.
Responsibilities
- Plans and administers a full range of occupational therapy services for patients with a variety of physical and cognitive impairments and disabilities.
- Establishes therapeutic intervention goals and develops therapeutic intervention programs.
- Implements therapeutic intervention plans utilizing occupational therapy techniques.
- Maintains all applicable patient records related to the delivery of patient care services.
- Supervises support personnel including Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and Rehabilitation Aides as well as O.T. and O.T.A. students.
- Participates in departmental and organizational programs, including performance improvement activities, clinical education programs, and inservices and staff development activities.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 12 months experience as a licensed therapist.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to recognize signs of distress.
- Possession of or proven eligibility for CPR certification.
- Basic computer skills in word processing and online communication.
- Possession of good interpersonal, time management, problem-solving, and self-initiation skills.
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
- Prior occupational therapy experience in an academic medical center environment is preferred.
- Prior experience working on an interdisciplinary health provider team is preferred.
- Possession of a graduate degree or certificate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited professional educational program is preferred.
- Possession of or proven eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist by the Occupational Therapy Board of California is required.
Salary
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
