Hand Therapist

About the role

Team members are licensed or certified professional Occupational Therapists/Certified Hand Therapists who work within a specific team structure to offer outpatient upper extremity rehabilitation services. They work with patients who have disorders and conditions associated primarily with orthopedic upper extremity problems, burns, and amputations.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat patients in accordance with the laws and rules that govern the practice of their profession in the state of Ohio.
• Report to the rehabilitation clinic manager as part of the Ambulatory Rehabilitation Services structure.
• Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals such as Physical Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, and Social Workers within a multidisciplinary rehabilitation clinic.
• Assess patients and establish plans of care; provide a wide variety of treatment techniques; provide education and support to families; and facilitate continuing care planning.
• Evaluate quality of services and participate in outcomes management activities.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy.
• Licensed and/or certified with the respective profession and meet the educational and/or certification requirements established by their professions.
• Two years of experience working in a medical setting is preferred for all professionals hired.
• Occupational Therapists hired after August 2010 must attain and maintain hand certification no later than 24 months after eligibility is met.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education Required: Bachelor's Level Degree.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective communication skills.
