Hakka-China Interpreter
About the role
LanguageLine Solutions is hiring bilingual Hakka-China-English phone interpreters to work remotely from their homes. This is an independent contractor position and not eligible for employee benefits.
Responsibilities
- Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
- Render accurate translations of conversations between Hakka-China and English speakers.
- Conduct interpreting sessions in a quiet and secure environment.
- Adapt to various industries including healthcare, insurance, finance, and law.
- Ensure confidentiality and follow client instructions.
- Provide cultural sensitivity and handle sensitive topics.
- Operate company-provided technology and adhere to physical requirements.
Qualifications
- Fluency in Hakka-China and English.
- Cultural competency and regional accent awareness.
- Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
- Ability to remain calm and neutral during interpreting sessions.
- Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred.
- Work authorization that does not require visa sponsorship.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and write requested languages preferred.

- Able to operate a keyboard and mouse.
- Must be able to lift up to 26 lbs.
- May be exposed to moderate noise levels.
Technical Requirements
- Dedicated personal device for business purposes.
- Desktop/Laptop Computers with Windows, MacOS, or ChromeOS.
- Tablets (iPadOS or Android).
- Smartphones (iOS or Android).
- Restricted brands: Kaspersky products, Huawei hardware.
- High-speed Internet connection with download speeds of no less than 5 Mbps, upload speeds of 3 Mbps, Ping value of no more than 300 ms, and Jitter value of no more than 30 ms.
- Access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction.
