About the role
The Child Care Shift Supervisor provides basic direction, guidance and supervision of children of different age groups. They provide work direction of staff in absence of or at the direction of the Manager.
Responsibilities
- Explain and demonstrate Hospitality Behaviors and Performance Standards.
- Understand where to get the information needed to complete tasks to standard.
- Communicate the behavioral values or standards needed to complete tasks to standard.
- Take ownership of problems and solve them when solutions may not be available.
- Request help from others when needed to complete task or goal.
- Have complete knowledge and can tell others of IMGR&C products and services.
- Communicate well with other team members.
- Have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. or more.
- Help in any class needed.
- Help with a lesson plan/activities in all classes.
- Watch children pending class; teacher to child ratios.
- Meet expected results and standards in Key Responsibilities and those listed on technical / operational SOP’s and task list.
- Respond to obstacles; find new ways to reach desired results.
- Act and take charge to respond to guest or internal customer needs.
- Support the achievement of Quality Goal; "Do it right the first time."
- Protect and preserve property of IMGR&C.
- Make suggestions to improve performance.
- Interact with children. Play, sing and dance with all children.
- Stay off cellular/electronic devices while monitoring staff.
- Meet IMGR&C standards (Mission, Values, Hospitality Behaviors, and Customer Recovery Skills).
- Approach all activities with enthusiasm and enthusiasm from others.
- Choose a positive approach in all situations.
- Respect individuality of others; continue to communicate in order to work together.

- Maintain records on individual children including daily observations and information about activities.
- Communicate with parents and management regarding the care of children.
- Adhere to all regulatory, departmental and casino policies and procedures and to the casino Internal Control Structure.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position supervises the Childcare Attendants.
Education and/or Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Two years of experience in a licensed childcare facility: or high school child development class.
- Must have knowledge of Early Childhood Education strategies, techniques, principles and practices.
- Must be willing to work flexible schedule.
- Must have the ability to provide work directions to others.
- Must be flexible working with children of all ages.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Must pass pre-employment criminal background investigation.
- Mescalero Apache Tribal preference; bicultural experience preferred.
- Must have proven record of dependability.
- Adhere to all regulatory, departmental, and resort policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and data entry.
Physical Demands
- Frequently sit for long periods of time, stand, walk, use hands, to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
- The noise level in the work environment is loud.
- The team member will be exposed to germs and/or viruses.
- The Team Member will be exposed to bio-hazardous fluids such as blood and other bodily fluids.
- May be subject to high stress environments.
