Description
Teaches gymnastics classes to children ages 3-18. Must be reliable, responsible, and energetic. Ability to safely lift and spot participants. Experience in gymnastics, physical education, or child development is required.
Essential Job Functions
- Ability to teach gymnastics skills and progressions appropriate to age and skill level
- Communicate with children in a positive and encouraging manner
- Interact professionally with participants, parents, and supervisors
- Collaborate as part of the gymnastics coaching team
- Be dependable and act responsibly
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and multitask
- Set up required equipment for classes
- Follow and effectively implement class curriculum
- Assist with keeping facility clean
- Follow all MJCCA emergency and safety procedures
- Complete incident and injury reports as necessary
Physical Demands
The work is physically demanding and involves lifting, holding, carrying, pushing and pulling of objects up to 50 pounds. Candidates must be able to stand for extended periods of time, demonstrate body positions, and bend over to assist students with performing gymnastics skills. Setting up equipment and spotting participants through skills on all apparatus is required.
Education And Experience
- Experience working with children ages 3 and older
- At least 2 years of gymnastics or child development training
- Understanding of basic progressions of gymnastics and child development
- Knowledge of basic gymnastics terminology
- Experience teaching and spotting gymnastics skills
Certifications
- USA Gymnastics Safety Certification (or willing to obtain within 3 months)
- CPR Certification (or willing to obtain within 3 months)
