About the role

As an Aircraft Maintenance Technician at West Star, you will perform a variety of mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems. No two days are the same—whether you are replacing or repairing parts, troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, or performing inspections on sophisticated civilian aircraft, each day brings new experiences and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Perform general mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems
• Removal and installation of panels and components
• Troubleshoot and problem-solve aircraft system/component issues
• De-fueling aircraft
• Engine removal and installations
• Operate ground support equipment
• Inspect and evaluate aircraft and components
• Assist in aircraft movement, performance runs, and taxiing
• Maintain and repair shop facility, equipment, and tooling
• Navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases using basic computer skills
• Communicate effectively in English (speaking, writing, reading)
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or valid passport (ideal but not mandatory)
• Airframe or Powerplant license (specific requirements vary by level)

Qualifications

• AMT I: Airframe or Powerplant license required (Airframe preferred). 0-2 years of experience in aviation maintenance, avionics, or similar. Limited to moderate knowledge of general maintenance; requires close supervision.
• AMT II: Airframe or Powerplant license required (Airframe preferred). 2-4 years of experience in aviation maintenance; corporate aircraft experience preferred but not essential. Considerable knowledge of general maintenance; requires general supervision for routine tasks and detailed instruction for new assignments.
• AMT III: Airframe license required; Powerplant license highly preferred. 4-6+ years of experience in aviation maintenance; corporate aircraft experience highly preferred. Full knowledge of general, detailed, and special assignments.
• AMT IV (Master): Airframe and Powerplant license required. 6+ years of experience in aviation maintenance with extensive experience on corporate aircraft platforms. Subject matter expert in all areas of the job.

Supervision

Work under the supervision of an assigned Team Leader and Director of Maintenance. May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity.

Working Conditions

• Work performed in a hangar environment with extreme temperature variations (very cold to very hot)
• Work outside during aircraft runs
• Varied positions in and around the aircraft

Equipment Used

• Personal hand tools (supplied by the mechanic)
• Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment
• Jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices
• Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment

Pay

The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $30-$46. Actual hourly rate varies based on factors including location, experience, and performance. Additional compensation includes a shift differential for alternate shifts, a semi-annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) company match, and employer contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA).
