About the role

The Quadrangle Club is the faculty and social club of the University of Chicago. It plays an important role in the intellectual fabric and life of the University, hosting discussions by Nobel laureates and other scholars.

Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming experience for guest(s) by assisting with luggage upon arrival.
  • Set up and break down event rooms, dining rooms, lounge and pre-function space according to event orders, as well as maintain cleanliness standards throughout the facility and grounds.
  • Carry guests’ luggage to/from the guests’ rooms.
  • Handle guest room deliveries.
  • Load and unload guests’ luggage into taxis, ride share and personal vehicles, buses etc.
  • Assemble and arrange event equipment in event rooms per event order, to the standard set by Event Operations management.
  • Use manual roller, roll the three Har Tru tennis courts multiple times daily.
  • Use weighted pull broom brush three Har Tru tennis courts multiple times daily.
  • Use wired line brush sweep tennis courts lines multiple times daily.
  • Sweep and wash tennis deck daily.
  • Clean and maintain building grounds, Tennis courts, sidewalks, alley, lawn areas, steps, signs, and other areas as directed by management.
  • Shovel snow for ease of egress for all patrons.
  • Assist event clients with carrying boxes, easels, equipment etc.
  • Must be able to walk for long periods of time, resulting in an average of 17,000 to 25,000 steps per shift.
  • Must be able to push, pull and lift a variety of tables and other equipment weighing 5-150 pounds, consisting of various materials and styles.
  • Listen and respond to guests’ inquiries using a positive, clear speaking voice.
  • Answer questions and assist giving accurate information pertaining to food and beverage hours.
  • Daily thorough cleaning of event rooms, common areas, offices, restrooms, following proper cleaning standards including the removal of trash throughout facilities and the restocking of supplies.
  • Ensure storage areas are clean and well organized.
  • Utilize appropriate hardware and software in completion of daily duties.
  • Aid leadership team with monthly, quarterly and/or yearly inventory of equipment and banquet goods.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to lift, push and pull 70+ pounds.
  • Housekeeping experience and knowledge of meeting room setup is desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work mobile devices.
  • Previous experience as a guest service attendant is a desirable but not required.

Benefits

Compensation: $20 per hour

This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
