GSM Intern (Year-Round)
About the role
The GSM Intern will perform activities associated with the purchase of a wide range of supplies, materials, equipment, and services. The job duties and activities required include a range of actions necessary to procure needed goods and services, i.e., obtaining pricing, administering, and pursuing projects. You will be responsible for supporting the diverse needs of our purchasing functions.
Responsibilities
- Understands and follows current global supply management policies and procedures
- Communicates verbally and in writing to obtain supplier pricing with proper templates
- Maintains the centralized supplier file system
- Aids other department staff as needed or directed
- Performs other duties as assigned by the manager or other associated leaders within the department
- Tracks, project manages, and provides and analytical analysis for responsible projects
- Supports preliminary vetting of suppliers (contact information, questionnaire, NDA's, etc.)
- Submission of RFI's on select projects and obtaining and tracking suppliers’ feedback
- Cost breakdown analysis between different suppliers for negotiation
- Benchmark information, updates & summaries for best-practice/lessons-learned
Requirements
- Current full-time enrollment in an accredited college, university, vocational/trade school
- Ability to report onsite at least three days to our Auburn Hills Campus
- Must be well organized, self-motivated, capable of managing conflict, and resourceful managing complex assignments
- Must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills required; must be comfortable interfacing with all levels of management
- Must have working knowledge of MS Office programs

- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships
- Must be comfortable interacting with different Reporting Units, cross-functional teams and supplier representatives
- Interest and capability for policy and process understanding
