About the Role

The Groups Director - CBC Central nurtures the overall health, growth, and spiritual well-being of all Adult Community Groups at the Central campus. This role focuses on investing in the development, training, and ongoing support of group leaders and coaches to foster strong, thriving communities. The Groups Director also partners closely with campus leadership to address pastoral care needs, ensuring individuals and groups receive guidance and support for spiritual growth and connection.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and shepherd the spiritual health and vitality of all Adult Community Groups.
  • Cultivate relationships with each Community Group Coach and Leader, serving as their primary staff contact.
  • Recruit and develop spiritually mature Coaches to oversee, care for, and shepherd existing groups.
  • Equip and develop leaders to live out "Up, In, & Out" ministry rhythms within their groups.
  • Lead and plan group training at Equip and other training events throughout the year.
  • Instill a pastoral mindset in each group, emphasizing that every member is a minister.
  • Provide ministry and resolution support for leaders facing larger issues.
  • Offer pastoral care and biblical counsel to groups needing direction or support.
  • Assist with time-sensitive or urgent pastoral care needs outside regular work hours (e.g., phone calls, hospital visits).
  • Partner with the Small Group Ministry Team on pastoral care issues and keep them informed.
  • Manage administrative tasks, including budget tracking, Ramp reconciliation, PTO approvals, and financial record-keeping.
  • Assist in crisis situations, hospital visits, funerals, and/or weddings as needed.
  • Participate in the "on call ministry" rotation and Sunday altar ministry.
  • Celebrate and capture stories of life-change within groups.
  • Maintain accurate leader and group data in systems (Rock, Smartsheets).
  • Instruct MTI students and assist with Pastors Day as needed.
  • Serve in church-wide events, including holiday services and CBC Cares.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with other ministries.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to respond calmly and professionally to emergent or stressful situations.
  • Proficiency in prioritizing work, meeting deadlines, and multitasking in high-stress environments.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (Gmail, Sheets, Docs, Slides) or Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Adherence to standard departmental procedures.
  • Highest level of personal integrity and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Forward-thinking with the ability to anticipate the needs of others.
  • Highly relational, pastoral, and Spirit-led leadership.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead small groups.
  • Ability to identify, encourage, and develop leaders in a small group environment.
  • Compassion, discernment, and wisdom in pastoral care situations.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

Qualifications

  • High school education, GED, or equivalent experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
  • Previous experience working or volunteering in small groups ministry, preferably in a large church environment.

Schedule

This is a regular full-time position (36-40 hours per week), Sunday through Thursday. Occasional night and weekend work will be required as job duties demand.

Physical Requirements

  • Good or corrected vision, including peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Good manual dexterity and ability to use repetitive motion of the hands and arms.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Ability to move about inside the office and file rooms.
  • Effective communication in both written and verbal form.
  • Occasional lifting of 10-75 pounds and/or pushing/pulling objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional outdoor events in heat, prolonged standing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.

Work Environment

Duties are performed in various settings, including outdoors, offices, and technical environments. The work may be fast-paced and hectic at times, requiring the ability to manage multiple projects in a service-oriented environment. Environmental noise levels are minimal.
